After the loss of a tooth, for whatever reason, a dental implant is usually the best way to replace a tooth. Dental implants are a 3 stage process. The first is the placement of the titanium implant into the bone where it becomes the “root” of the tooth (I prefer to let excellent Oral Surgeons or Periodontists do this part). This is allowed to heal for several months so that bone will actually fuse to the titanium “root.” The second step is to mold the gum tissue to the correct shape, and finally the porcelain crown is made and secured to the titanium “root.”
This provides the most lifelike tooth replacement possible. Brushing and flossing is as easy as for a natural tooth.
We can also place several dental implants and securely attach bridges and dentures. Dental implants are truly a modern miracle and should be considered as an option whenever tooth replacement is needed.
